Struggling Poet’s Inner Mind Theater, Act One
by Kang Martelino

Plaid skirt fluttering, my pink-haired muse
Delivered an impressive kick to my ribs
Before she kissed me good morning and
Asked, “What shall you write about today?”

It must have been the jolt from the blow that
Prompted me to announce, rather smugly,
That I would be creating a masterpiece
With Tetris as my main image. I would

Compare and contrast it with the struggles
Of youth. I turned to my muse, and asked
If my persona should be an angst-ridden artist
And before I knew it, I became the receiving end

Of an agonizing German suplex. I guess that was
A clear declaration of revulsion, so
In a stroke of brilliance, I decided to make my persona
A circus clown instead. He would still be angsty and

The world would still be against him and he would
Still be slashing his own wrists when no one was looking.
The muse then pointed out that sure, my plot was clever
But she could not see where Tetris was in my grand scheme.

I smiled mysteriously, the way a pompous prodigy would,
As I straightened the pristine white bedsheets where
I would be writing the poem that would have the pillars
Of poetry running for their money. Then I took my pen,

Dipped it in lightning and began, oblivious of the muse
Who was in pain from trying so hard not to laugh.

My redemption from the disasterpiece that was "Sliding Doors". I wrote it when I uh, woke up a couple of hours before Poetry class, haha. I was desperate so I just decided to do what I do best-- make fun of myself. :p

Cor, Kash, Zyn, classmates-- thanks for the encouragement. At sa pag-capture ng Glory Moment ko. Napaluhod si god! Yes! XD
